Early Access
Operator: Until Thaw is in Early Access: it is playable now and still in development. More nights, rooms and story will keep arriving over time, and your feedback helps shape it.
How to play
Read the town map, wait for something to break, then fix it: radio a crew and click the district, or walk into a room and work its switches, valves and buttons. Watch the money and each district's trust. Survive nine nights with the death count under the limit and no revolt.
About the game
Snow has closed the only pass into Halden, a mountain town of 850 people. You are the new night operator at Halden Control, and until the thaw the town's power, gas and water are in your hands.
The dispatch office is home: a lit model of the town shows every district, warm or cold, lit or dark, calm or angry. When something breaks, radio a crew across the map or step through a door into the Power hall, the Gas room, the Pump house or, later, the Emergency room, and work the hardware yourself.
Every fix spills into another service, costs money and moves trust. Ryan Hatch, a senior operator with thirty winters in the chair, talks you through it all, with dry jokes and hard truths. Each dawn brings a spoken report, then a day of council meetings, letters from townsfolk and a budget to spend before the next night.
Nine nights to the thaw, each colder than the last. Keep the deaths down and the town on your side, and Halden makes it to spring.
